2Mason Mentors Wanted

Sometimes all a child needs is an additional, caring adult to take an hour a week to say, “I’m here for you.” For 17 years, the Mason Mentoring Program has helped ensure that Mason City Schools students are matched with an adult 21 years old or older for one hour each week to help provide just that type of reassurance.  Mentors serve as an additional, caring adult in these students’ lives.

“There are a lot of kids out there who need a little extra encouragement. Mentors are just a little more support in these students’ lives,” explained Sue Shackleford, Director of the Mason Mentoring Program.

Mentors are needed for fourth through sixth grade students at Mason Intermediate and for seventh and eighth grade students at Mason Middle School. Mentors meet with students during the school day.
