Mason MoveSchool may be out on Friday, but this will be one of the busiest summers on record for the Mason City School District. On May 25 at 2:30pm, Mason Middle School closes for the 2018-2019 school year, and the district begins the monumental task of relocating over 325 Mason Early Childhood Center (MECC), Western Row Elementary (WR), Mason Intermediate School (MI), Mason Middle School (MMS) and Mason High School (MHS) employees as MMS undergoes a complete renovation.

“It’s a big deal to move this many people, and our teachers and staff have been excellent about understanding that the temporary ‘pain’ of moving is going to result in better learning environments in the future. I particularly want to thank [MMS Assistant Principal] Mark Murzynowski, who is absolutely the master of the move,” says Todd Petrey, Chief Operating Officer.

Ray Hamilton Movers is assisting the district in consolidating the number of Mason schools from five to four. The experienced moving company has been storing many of the boxes that the district's teachers began packing up in March. Mason custodial and maintenance staff are instrumental in the big move, and are helping ensure that all the internal classroom moves are completed by July 15.

“All of our staff is becoming pretty adept at assembling moving boxes! We are grateful for everyone’s cooperation in getting everything boxed up and ready to move so that we can make sure that all of our new classrooms at MECC, Western Row and MI are finished and ready for teachers to move into on August 1st,” Petrey explains.

The action closes on Tuesday, May 29 at 8:00pm and all items must be picked up and moved by the purchaser by Thursday, May 31 between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
