New School Administrators in 2019-2020The Mason City Schools Board of Education named Robyn Jordan as the Mason High School Associate Principal and Blake Barnett as a Mason Early Childhood Center Assistant Principal during its June 25 meeting. Jordan replaces Shanna Bumiller who is transitioning to a new role-  7-12 Learning Experience Designer. Barnett replaces Claudia Farmer, who was a one-year interim administrator during the 2018-2019 school year contracted through the Hamilton County Educational Service Center.

“It is always a special #MasonMoment when we get to welcome new staff members to our Comet Family. We are thrilled to welcome Robyn and Blake,” said Jonathan Cooper, Superintendent. “I know that each of them is also looking forward to connecting with staff, students and families.”

About Robyn Jordan
“It is such an exciting time in Mason City Schools where at the heart of the work, there is a strategic focus on Culture, Inclusive Excellence, and Personalized Learning.  Amazing kids and phenomenal educators that are truly growing greatness together, and I am sincerely honored to be joining the Mason family. Definitely having my first #MasonMoment and looking forward to experiencing many more!” said Jordan.

The MHS Associate Principal of Teaching and Learning supports and champions effective and innovative instructional practice at Ohio’s largest high school. Jordan will work with the administrative team and teacher leaders to ensure academic excellence through strategically planned curriculum, instruction and assessment that focuses on high achievement for all learners.

Before coming to Mason, Jordan led the Middletown School District’s academic programming for secondary students as the 6-12 Curriculum Coordinator, served as Assistant Principal at Milford High School, at Princeton Middle School and Garfield Middle School, and taught high school biology in the Sycamore Community School District.  Jordan earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Arkansas State University, a Masters of Science in Biology from Arkansas State University and a Masters in Education from Wright State University. Jordan is currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Leadership from Miami University. She and her husband, Carl, are the proud parents of an incoming Comet, 5-year old Jorja, CJ, age 14, and Cael age 12.

About Blake Barnett
“For the past year, I’ve had a poem that I authored, titled ‘It Just Takes One’, as my signature for my work email. The essence of the poem focuses on the power of one individual to be a positive change agent, and to make a lasting impact. One thing that excites me so much about Mason is the premium that is placed on each interaction and the importance attached to every relationship. This focus aligns with my emphasis on servant leadership and, throughout this process, Mason has proven to be an excellent match for my core values in leading. I’m thrilled to be here in Mason City Schools, I’m excited about my new leadership role in helping to grow greatness with our Comets who are just beginning their educational journey here in Mason, and I am blessed to be joining the wonderful leadership team at MECC.”

Before coming to Mason, Barnett taught grades Kindergarten, second, and third in North College Hill City Schools where he wrote and secured a STEM grant to infuse robotics into the learning program. He recently taught second grade in the Fairfield City School District and Barnett was selected to join the Aspiring Leaders Program in Fairfield in the 2018-2019 school year, being identified as a rising educational leader in the district. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Xavier University and Master of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. He and his wife, Jenelle, are enjoying raising their two girls, Eden, 8, and Jordan, 11. They enjoy family walks in the neighborhood, cooking and trying new recipes, and watching their daughters participate in sports and activities.
