The Mason City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved new contracts for Superintendent Gail Kist-Kline and Treasurer Ronda Johnson at its January 26 meeting - ensuring that both women will continue to lead the district through the 2019-2020 school year.
"The Board appreciates Dr. Kist-Kline and Mrs. Johnson's steady leadership,” said Courtney Allen, board president. "We are particularly proud of their efforts to advocate for more local control as they lead the charge for less state testing, and stable funding."
Both Kist-Kline and Johnson expressed their gratitude to continue to serve Mason students, staff, and the community.
"I'm very excited about the opportunities our community's students are embracing. I love that Mason values innovation, and look forward to continuing to work with a team of dedicated staff who are committed to 'Growing Greatness Together!'" said Dr. Kist-Kline. "This is a challenging time in education to be sure, however, I feel privileged to work with our school board and staff - to serve in this community that values education and has high expectations. Mason is a wonderful place to be, and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve."
"It is a blessing to work here. I love this team, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to work in Mason," said Johnson. "We have a strong commitment to being wise stewards of taxpayer dollars, and I look forward to continuing to work with all of our stakeholders to support the mission of the District – delivering high quality education while maximizing cost-effectiveness and efficiency."
Under the new contracts, there are no changes to either leader's compensation structure.
