William Kenneth Natorp
was honored as the sixth William Mason High School Distinguished Alumnus during a special recognition ceremony on May 20, 2016.
Ken Natorp knows how things grow in Mason. He’s grown his family, his business and his community since graduating from Mason in 1963 and Ohio University in 1967. Ken and his wife of 49-years, Nancy, set down roots in Mason. Both of their sons Kyle (1987) and Craig (1989) are Mason graduates as are their spouses, Nikki (1993) and Jamie (1992). The Natorps are proud grandparents of the next generation of Comets, current Mason students Owen (2023), Eli (2025) and Myah (2025).
Ken led the four-generation Natorp family business that celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2016. Ken is still active in the business mentoring his sons and engaged in the outlet and landscaping businesses. Natorp shares, “While we are known for our quality plants, we get more compliments on our help than anything else.” This emphasis on service carries through to his role as an industry leader. Professionally, Ken served as President of the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association, Governor of the American Nursery and Landscape Association for Ohio and received the Distinguished Contribution Award in 1999.
Ken embodies a spirit of generosity in serving his community. He currently serves on the board of the Warren County Foundation, Project Excellence, Warren County Area Progress Council and other regional economic develop committees. He served on the Cincinnati Rotary Board, the Board of the University of Cincinnati Goering Center and the Heritage Club and Kenwood Country Club Board of D??irectors.
Ken and his family are long-time supporters of Mason City Schools. Nancy served on the Mason City School Board and they were founding members of the Mason Schools Foundation.
