Eight MHS Creative Artists' Talent Recognized by Overture Awards

Eight MHS students were named semifinalists at the Overture Awards Scholarship Regional Competition on January 9, the region’s largest solo arts competition for high school students. These talented MHS students include Noah Bradford (Visual Art), Brandon Cole (Theater), Sanjana Datla (Dance), Kedi Hu (Visual Art), Jocelyn Kang (Instrumental), Danielle Morey (Vocal), Jessica Sommerville (Creative Writing), and Lauren Zell (Creative Writing).

This competition ranges beyond the visual arts, including Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental and Vocal Music, and Theatre. The Overtures entries for the entire high school were coordinated by MHS visual arts teacher Tina Roberts.

"We are so proud of all of the Mason students that were chosen to participate in Overtures!  They are truly the best of the best in the arts in our district," said Roberts. "Our semi-finalists are among the chosen few in the area and we are keeping our fingers crossed that they make it to the finals at the end of the month!"

The semi-finalists will compete live January 29 and 30 at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Four students in each discipline will be selected to compete at the Final Competition.
