2016-2017 School Year

Mason boys head soccer coach, Paul Reedy, achieved career win number 300 on against a familiar foe and former team, the Colerain Cardinals.

Mason head swimming and diving coach, Mark Sullivan, was
 named the Ohio High School Swim Coaches Association, Coach of the Year for 2016 (Neil Skinner Award). 

The 2016 Mason Girls Tennis Team repeated as the GMC Champions.

The Mason Girls Tennis Team advanced to the OTCA Final Four
with a 4-1 win against Ursuline in the State Team Tourney.

Mason Athletic programs received some significant national recognition in a new study from MAXPREPS and LATERAL SPORTS for having the most former Comet athletes currently participating in fall sports of football, soccer and volleyball at the collegiate level. Mason was ranked #1 among all Ohio high schools with 75 former athletes participating in NCAA (Divisions I, II or III) and NAIA football, volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer rosters.

Volleyball

The Varsity Girls Volleyball Team captured the GMC Championship by sweeping through Oak Hills 25-13, 25-13, 25-11. The Comets wrapped up conference play with a perfect 9-0 record and final regular season record of 20-1. 

A Mason Girls Tennis Team won the Southwest District title for the third consecutive year at the finals of the Southwest District Championships at the ATP. Seniors Amanda Huser and Isabel Cepeda defeated Ursuline's O'Connor and Foster in the semis 6-3, 7-5.

The Mason Girls Tennis Team finished their 2016 season by finishing second in the State Team Finals.

Mason Boys Cross Country won their 6th GMC title in the past 7 years.

Mason Boys Cross Country continued its dominance of the District Championships, winning their 9th in a row.

Mason Girls Volleyball head coach, Tiann Myer, received a very special recognition. The Ohio Valley Volleyball Officials Association voted Myer the "Most Representative Coach of Outstanding" of Cincinnati area head volleyball coaches. 

Tiann Myer won her 200th career victory as the Mason Volleyball head coach in the Comets first postseason match against the Princeton Vikings.

The Mason Boys Soccer Team earned the title of Sectional Champions.

The Mason Boys Soccer Team won a fifth straight Southwest District Championship.

The Mason Boys Cross Country Team punched its ticket to the state championships for the tenth year in a row, placing 14th.

Football

The Comets Football Team broke thru a long playoff win drought to punch their ticket to the second round of the OHSAA postseason. Mason defeated GCL Elder 21-20 before a packed house at Dwire Field to send them to a rematch with their GMC rival Sycamore. The Comets were making their 2nd consecutive playoff appearance and 8th overall. 

MHS was recently ranked the #1 school in the state of Ohio for athletes according to Niche. MHS was given this top rank based on factors such as number of sports, athletic participation from boys and girls, and expenses per student. 

Zack Donathan won the Iron Man event in the 132 pound weight class in one of the toughest weights in the tournament. His bracket had seven top 15 ranked wrestlers in the country. He did so beating the number 2, 5, and 15 ranked kids in the country. This is the equivalent of winning a national title. The Iron Man event is regarded as the toughest tournament in the country. 

Mason High School Wrestling placed seventh in the State and were named the Region 7 Champions. They won their eighth consecutive GMC title.

The Girls and Boys Swimming Teams won GMC titles.

Mason Girls Basketball won a share of the GMC title this past weekend with a 66-29 romp over Sycamore at the MMS Arena.

The Mason Girls Swimming and Diving Teams competed in the Sectional this past weekend. The girls team came out on top winning the sectional meet by over 100 points. This is their 5th straight Sectional win. 

The Mason Girls Swimming Team had an awesome District meet this past weekend at Miami University. They defended their District title from last year giving them four District titles in the last five years! 

Mason Boys Bowling won Sectionals.

Wrestling

The Boys Wrestling Team put up a dominating Sectional performance with a team score of 301 points over 2nd place Harrison with 220 points, winning Sectionals for the fourth straight year. 

The Mason Girls Swimming Team had an OUTSTANDING showing in Canton, finishing as the State Runner-up for the second straight year. The team had two individual state champions in Allison Bloebaum and Ashley Volpenhein who brought home three state titles. The Comets also had four runner-up performances.

Zack Donathan etched his name into Mason Wrestling history this past weekend winning the 132 lb Division 1 State Title in Columbus, Ohio.

MHS Competition Cheerleading came in eighth at state.

Dance Team

The MHS Dance Team came in seventh in Hip Hop and eighth in Jazz.


The Mason Boys Tennis Team are the 2017 GMC Champions.

Mason Girls Softball won the 2017 GMC Championship and Districts.

Mason Boys Track won its tenth GMC title.

Mason’s Girl's Track and Field 4x800 Relay Team, Ellie Brush, Maddie Ullom, Faith Min, and Lily Hallum, won State.
