On February 23, the Mason City Schools Board of Education recognized 22 Mason High School students who earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT, a standardized test used for college admission.

Kunal Arora, Humza Asgher, Vishnu Avanthsa, Ravi Bandaru, Caroline Bishop, Ryan Caplinger, Jiahao Guo, Neev Gupta, Justin Huang, Yuandi Huang, Amogh Iyanna, Keshav Iyengar, Jessie Kong, Ruchi Kudalkar, William Lee, Sankhya Rajan, Kevin Ren, Vedarsh Shah, Nishita Tonangi, Nikith Vangala, Ann Vettikkal, and Emily Yang all scored a perfect 36. The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science - each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.

“While these scores are  impressive, we know that these students are much more than a test score. Each of these Comets has a story that matters - and demonstrates leadership in our high school in a number of ways. Their Mason Moments exemplify the very best of #CometCulture,” said Jonathan Cooper, Superintendent.

During the meeting, students shared their favorite “Mason Moment!”
